Subtextual Start writing

What’s new in Subtextual.

New features, improvements and fixes, as they ship to the app.

The Guide Changed

The built-in Field Guide is now called the Guide. “Field Guides” now means only the public shelf of guides.

A blank page to start Improved

A first visit opens a blank page of your own, with the Guide one click away. Returning writers carry on where they left off.

Private sync New

Optional end-to-end encryption for your synced documents. They’re encrypted on your device with a passphrase only you know, before they’re uploaded, and a recovery key opens them if you forget it. Off by default; see the privacy policy for what it does and doesn’t cover.

Faster ways around Improved

⌘1–⌘9 open your recent documents, and ⌘’ switches between Text and Subtext.

Field Guides New

A shelf of public guides from editing.help, inside Subtextual. Reading them needs no account; adding one to your library makes a copy that’s yours.
